seal you later.

Out at Wycliffe Park yesterday going for a rehabilitating swim.  Little did I know it would turn in to, hands down, one of the best experiences of my life.

Jumped in to the water, icy cold, moving fast to get  the blood moving I stayed near the shallow end until Geordie got back.  As soon as he was though, out to the depths it was for me.  Swimming fast and hard I took a moment to pause and look back to shore.

Feeling far enough out, and quite warm, relatively speaking, I decide to turn around and leisurely swim towards the shore when all of a sudden POP a head comes out of the water about three feet from me and scares the living daylights out of me.

I scream bloody murder and start swimming back to shore as fast as I can.

Realizing it was a seal I slow down a bit, enough to catch my breath, and begin to see the humor in it.  Still swimming towards shore, at a more normal pace, POP there he is again, in front of me and even closer.  Still mildly frightened I say “hello” and we check each other out.  Both a little unsure, but definitely thinking “yep, that’s my type.”

He dives under and I continue towards Geordie who meets me part way.  We discuss my encounter and POP there he is again.  About 5 feet from us.

He goes under, and we take a look.

He swims toward us!!!!

Next thing we know our new friend is hugging Geordie’s fins and PLAYING WITH US!!!

After a bit he swims away.

Giggling like 3 year olds completely giddy from the experience he returns.  This time behind me.  I turn around and he comes right up to me and twirls with me and touches my feet.  I don’t want to kick him so I stop any sort of swimming movement and just float, he continues to play around me and bumps my bum with his nose.

AAAAAHHHH!!!!  So, so sooooo amazing!!!

Can’t wait to go again!

Seal you later my lovely new friend!
